Reaction on A Trip to the Moon

A Trip to the Moon is a silent film directed by Georges Melies. It was about the adventure of astronomers who travel to the moon. As they were exploring the moon, some lunar inhabitants were running after them. They successfully escaped and returned to Earth with a captive.

At first glance, the movie was in scientific approach. But if I were to watch the movie during the first screening, I might not be able to absorb the scientific sense of the movie. This is due to my amusement to the film. Aside from that will be my first time to watch a movie which was something like that, the sequences of the film was also comical.

The technique used which is stop motion also adds flavour to the movie. The actions made by the actors were humorous enough to pick up the interest of the audience. During that time, this type of movie is very new. But as the time progress, which is very evident right now, film making improves. In comparison to modern movies, A Trip to the Moon is not very attractive. But it has its own charm as a film. Modern film makers should see this movie as a model on how to get the audience’s attention.
