Toyota i-Road

(Individual Project)

TOYOTA’s i-Road

Toyota i-Road is in fact one of the vehicles that will exist in the future. Right now, we are leaning on the road to a more sustainable living. It is comprehensible of course to start with innovating the vehicles we use right now since almost everyone contributes in gas emissions through these. Toyota i-Road is efficient for its size and somehow reduces the risks of riding a typical motorcycle. Anyone who chooses to use this need not to learn how to balance, worry with lack of compartments, and bother to buy helmets. This is, as a matter of fact, a more (or even the most) convenient alternative to bikes.

Further developments of this kind of technology are undoubtedly included in the picture. Just like the smart phones, it will follow trends, which include the size, color, shape, and especially the level of efficiency it can offer. DSLR cameras are even defeated by the specs of a smart phone’s camera, which puts it in lower sales in the market. We are all leaning on something much more compact like a reduced version of all the gadgets we have. Who would want to bring a bulky and heavy camera when you can use a phone which produces decent photos which are easier to upload online? (Well, that’s the case if you happen to buy a DSLR but you are not after the quality of the photographs it can produce)

It’s almost positive that this will happen in our vehicles too; not just the aspect of being compact but also with the way it impacts our lifestyle.

What might be next in line with this “smart bike” is a self-driving bike, which is most favorable for people with disabilities. But the psychographic segmentation is sometimes something we cannot control. People who do not actually need vehicles with this kind of technology would opt to buy one because it is definitely more convenient. In the end, bikes ran by human legs might just be an invention in the bygone days, and will only be relived in illustrations or photographs. People will rely more on the most efficient technology available that lessens all the physical movements we have to do and restricting at least one or two body parts to do tasks for us. This is not completely unhealthy at all unless we become fully dependent on technology.

The i-Road and everything else is a huge step for our development and growth but let’s not let it shape our behavior. We should not forget our own body’s capacity and efficiency without these.
